Six candidates will participate in the forum.
Coral Gables (April 28, 2011) —
The Miami Foundation and The Miami Herald will host a mayoral policy forum on Tuesday, May 3from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Six candidates will participate in the forum: Roosevelt Bradley, Luther Campbell, Jose “Pepe” Cancio, Carlos Gimenez, Marcelo Llorente and Julio Robaina.
The forum will take place at the University of Miami’s BankUnited Center Fieldhouse, (1245 Dauer Drive) in Coral Gables. The Host of WLRN’s The Florida Roundup, Phil Latzman and The Miami Herald’s Editorial Page Editor, Myriam Marquez will moderate.
In March, the Mayor of Miami-Dade County was recalled from office and a special election has been set for May 24. Also on the upcoming ballot are six proposed charter reforms. “As Miami’s foundation we have a responsibility to ensure that Miami-Dade residents are informed before the May 24 special election,” said Javier Alberto Soto, president and CEO of The Miami Foundation. “The issues will be on the table, our larger goal is to elevate the tone and tenor of the conversation so voters have meaningful information to make informed decisions.”
“The University of Miami is happy that this important event is being held on campus and that we will be able to have our students, faculty and staff, along with the entire community, participate in hearing from the candidates,” said University of Miami President Donna E. Shalala.
Tickets are available by contacting The Miami Foundation online at www.MiamiFoundation.org/TicketRequest.
