Coral Gables (April 16, 2012) — The University of Miami will again offer its annual Flexible Summer Workweek Program this summer. This year the program has been extended by two weeks and will run from June 1 through August 9. During that time, Coral Gables and Rosenstiel Campus employees may work a modified schedule—the same number of hours each week over fewer days. Specific units or departments may modify the duration of this program for operational reasons as needed.
Flexible workweeks help reduce commuting costs and improve overall work/life balance—a key component of the University’s Wellness Philosophy. Employees who participate find that the extra time provides them with enough flexibility to take care of a variety of personal needs, from errands and exercise to schoolwork and vacations.
Hundreds of employees participated in last year’s Flexible Summer Workweek Program. In a subsequent survey, respondents overwhelmingly requested that the program be extended. Respondents also commented on the program’s ability to improve employee morale, positively impact employee/family relations and work/life balance, and boost work productivity and quality.

After the 2012 program ends, employees who participate will again be asked to take a survey, which will be used to make further enhancements to the program.
