Orientation

You are required to complete the online portion of orientation and attend a live orientation session to discuss the mission of the University, become acquainted with University benefits, receive assistance to enroll in various health care and insurance plans, and discuss various policies and procedures. Orientation is mandatory and must be completed within ten working days of the employee's start date. Part One involves computer-based learning modules (CBL), which are sessions taken online. New employees must complete online modules before they can attend a live orientation session. Part Two of the orientation process is the live session that is attended only after all of the CBLs are completed. Depending on your work location, both part-time and full-time employees are expected to complete the following orientation and HIPAA/OSHA sessions. Failure to attend mandatory orientation sessions may result in termination of employment.

*HIPAA is offered online as part of UM General Orientation. For a full listing of available HIPAA courses, visit www.med.miami.edu/hipaa/public. Initial OSHA is offered live as part of UM General Orientation (Miller School campus). Non-hospital based employees take Initial OSHA as part of the Monday live session at the Professional Development and Training Office located at 1051 NW 14th Street, Suite 155. Please register for the class online at ulearn.miami.edu. Hospital-based employees take Initial OSHA as part of Hospital Orientation.
