Employees who have been newly hired, transferred, or promoted within the University are subject to a probationary period.

Administrative/Professional Employees:
Probationary period is 180 days

Research Employees:
Probationary period is 180 days

Clerical/Nursing/Technical/Service Employees:
Probationary period is 91 days
Probationary Period Policy (B080)

The supervisor should discuss performance and conduct issues with the employee throughout the probationary period. Supervisors may choose to conduct a probationary period appraisal during or upon completion of the probationary period.

A Departmental Orientation Form should be completed for all newly hired, transferred, or promoted employees on the first day of work.
