Tentative HSA events for Fall 2012 Semester (subject to change):
September 23, 2012, HSA Beach Day at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park filled with loads of activities: Kayaking, Bicycling, Fishing, Hiking/Nature Trail, Historic Site (Cape Florida Lighthouse), a Picnic, Swimming, and Wildlife Viewing.
November 2, 2012, Ronald McDonald House: Cooking a meal and bringing activities (such as board games, coloring books, and toys) to play with the children. The mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children.
November 10, 2012, HSA Day of Service with the Over Town Youth Center. HSA will bring volunteers to tutor and participate in reflective activities with the youth to bring a feel of community connection. These activities include arts and crafts, tutoring with school work, and having a thanksgiving lunch with the center.
November 30, 2012, Viernes Culturales: A surprising mix of old and new, bringing you the classic favorites: dancing under the stars, domino games, Cuban cafecitos, art galleries and artist studios. The beautiful Domino Plaza filled with works by talented local artists and artisans and free tour of Little Havana.
December 1, 2012, Ice Skating at Kendall Ice Arena
Trip to Vizcaya: A National Historic Landmark; serene and stunningly beautiful retreat in the heart of Miami. Vizcaya Museum & Gardens features a Main House, ten acres of formal gardens, and a rockland hammock (native forest).

The Lowe Art Museum, located on campus next to Mahoney-Pearson Residential Colleges, is offering a free, student-guided tour to all Honors students! The Lowe is a true gem of the university, and every student should visit it at least once!

HSA Movie Night! Come see "No Strings Attached" or "The Fighter" for free (HSA members only) while socializing with fellow Honor Students. An email was sent with a link to a Doodle survey so that we can get an idea of how many movie tickets to buy. Tickets will be purchased for "The Fighter" showing at 7:50pm, and "No Strings Attached" showing at 8:00pm. If these are not your choice of movies to see, you can bring the ticket to AMC Sunset Place 24 and exchange it for a ticket to another movie of equal of lesser value. |
