The Honors Day Convocation was established in 1980 as a celebration of academic excellence. The Convocation recognizes distinguished undergraduates from all disciplines, outstanding members of the various honor societies and honors students to be graduated with General Honors in May or Summer 2016.
It is by invitation that students are invited to participate in the Convocation. The various colleges, schools, departments, and academic honor societies select their most outstanding graduating senior and the General Honors Program acknowledges students who have fulfilled the requirements to be graduated with General Honors. The invitation to participate will be sent in late March.
Provost Thomas LeBlanc, Dean of Undergraduate Education, William Scott Green, along with the Deans of each college and school present awards to students.
The Convocation will last approximately 90 minutes. Tickets are not needed by guests to attend the Convocation. There is no parking fee to attend the event. Students may invite as many guests as they like. Guests and non-processing administrators and faculty must be seated by 10:50 a.m.
Invitations and instructions for the Convocation will be mailed the last week of March 2016 to students who are to be honored. Students must RSVP to the General Honors Program office by April 15, 2016 to reserve their seats in the BankUnited Center.
Invitations to faculty who plan to process will be mailed the first week of April 2016. Faculty must RSVP to the General Honors Program office by April 29, 2016 to reserve their seat on stage.
