The General Honors Program Summer Research Internship matches general honors students, who have completed at least one semester at UM, with a faculty mentor on the Medical, Rosenstiel, or Coral Gables campus to do research in the Humanities, Social Sciences, or Natural Sciences. Approximately 20 students are selected. The students are required to work 6 to 8 weeks during the summer. Students in the program receive 3 Honors credits, a grade from the supervising professor in the fall semester, and a stipend of $1,500 at the completion of the research assignment. Students are encouraged to find their own housing for the summer, however, with a petition and approval from the General Honors Program, students may be considered for housing assistance. Those students accepted to the General Honors Program Summer Research Internship will receive more information on petitioning and the deadline for petition. Funds are limited and students who petition must plan to reside in University of Miami Residential College Conference Housing. Seniors graduating May or Summer 2017 are not eligible to participate.
