Arsht Ethics Debates at Sportsfest build on the foundation of the UM Ethics Bowl (formerly UM Ethics Debates), initially conceived and funded by Karl and Teresa Schulze.  The Sportsfest debates significantly expand ethics activities into the daily fabric of UM campus life, by bringing ethics debates into the dorms for the popular annual Spring event.

Teams of students representing the residential colleges meet to discuss timely sports-related issues developed by student members of the undergraduate UM Ethics Society.  The first substantive competition at SportsFest program debuted in 2007.
