IN MEMORIAM

Prof. Bruce Winick, a UM law professor, longstanding friend of the Ethics Programs and frequent collaborator with ethics faculty.  A co-founder of the “therapeutic jurisprudence” movement, Prof. Winick was a recipient of an Arsht Ethics Research Grant to expand that work.  University of Miami noticeMiami Herald obituary.

Dr. Julienne Prineas, a rhetorician who established and directed a center for scientific grant writing at the University of Miami and was a longtime friend of and collaborator with the UM Ethics Programs. Her husband of 49 years, Dr. Ronald Prineas, is Professor Emeritus of Wake Forest University School of Medicine and was chair of UM’s Department of Epidemiology and Public Health.

Dr. Jane Mary Trau, a well-known Miami-based bioethics scholar and Catholic moral theologian.  Obituary.

Dr. Phil Pennell, a longtime ethics educator. A nephrologist and Professor of Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Pennell helped introduce ethics into the school’s curriculum in the 1980s.  Obituary.
