Another National Championship within UM’s Grasp:  Ethics Bowl Kicks Off

As the Miami Hurricanes prepare to take on the Florida State Seminoles on the football field on Saturday, October 9, another UM team will make its first step toward a repeat National Championship.

In the tradition of UM’s National Championship Ethics Bowl team from 2007, UM’s 2010 team will compete in UM Ethics Bowl from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm on Saturday October 9 at the University of Miami School of Business Administration, as the team prepares to compete in the regional championships in November.

The UM Ethics Team upset perennial favorite U.S. Military Academy for top honors at the National Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl in 2007, and since then UM teams placed in the national event’s final four, mid-Atlantic region co-champion, and runner up twice in the National Bioethics Bowl in 2009 and 2010.

Who: University of Miami Ethics Team

When: Saturday, October 9, 2010, from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm

Where: University of Miami School of Business Administration
5250 University Drive, Coral Gables, 33146

Why: In this world of cascading ethical breaches, these students are learning lifelong lessons at the highest level.  Learn how the next generation of leaders will make a difference on their path to bring another National Championship home to South Florida.

What: Topics include citizenship status of children of illegal immigrants, avatar child pornography, Spain’s ban on bullfighting, investing in viatical insurance policies, Facebook privacy, and more.
