UM-DCC Spin-A-Thon

Where: Coral Gables Campus, Herbert Wellness Center
What: A 6-hour Spin-A-Thon to help raise funds towards the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center
Time: From 4 pm to 10 pm
Who: UM Students - Clubs and Greek Organizations
Spin-A-Thon
- Open to University of Miami’s registered student clubs and Greek organizations
- Participation is limited to UM students
- Limited to 35 groups
- Minimum fundraising of $2,000 per team
- Winning team will receive special recognition and prizes
Registration Process
- Interested groups will need to identify a team captain
- Each team will need to have riders cover their bike for the entire Spin-A-Thon
- Team captains and riders will need to register at rideDCC.com as ‘Virtual’ Riders
- Each team will need to raise a minimum of $2,000 for the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in order to participate in the Spin-A-Thon
- The Spin-A-Thon team that raises the most funds will receive prizes and special recognition
Captain’s Role
- Promote the Dolphins Cycling Challenge (DCC) within their student club or organization
- Ensure every student member in their club/organization knows about the DCC
- Educate members and supporters about the DCC and its goals, explaining how every dollar raised by riders goes directly towards advancing cancer research and treatment at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center
- Create a team, recruiting riders for the Spin-A-Thon
- Raise awareness and garner support for the riders
- Raise a minimum of $2,000 for the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center to participate in the Spin-A-Thon
- Plan out coverage for the 6-hour Spin-A-Thon; determine who your cyclists will be throughout the 6-hour Spin-A-Thon
