CB Connects U, a new initiative from the Citizens Board, was launched at a special reception on March 27, 2012 in downtown Miami. The initiative is designed to inform business leaders of the impact that the University of Miami has in the South Florida community to strengthen the partnership between them and the University. One example of how the Citizens Board is already helping the Greater Miami community is via an internship in Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez’s office: as part of a hands-on internship overseen by UM’s Office of Civic and Community Engagement, UM senior Stephanie Horna is in the process of conducting a national benchmarking study identifying best practices in county procurement processes.
