Well ‘Canes Farmers’ Market
9:00am to 3:00pm - Foote University Green
An initiative of the Office of Human Resources and University of Miami Student Government, vendors will be selling healthy items such as fresh fruit & vegetables, baked goods, artisanal cheeses, local honey, marinades, ceviche, pasta, and more.
Community Food Organization Fair
11:00am to 2:00pm - UC Lower Lounge
Showcasing local non-profits + campus groups such as:
Youth L.E.A.D. Miami - Earth Save Miami - Farm Fresh Miami - Farm Share - UM CommUnity Garden - UM ECO Agency - UM VitalityU - Teena’s Pride - Art of Cultural Revolution - Slow Food Miami - and much more.
Film Screening + Panel Discussion
5:30pm to 8:00pm - Wesley CAS Gallery
Food Stamped, an informative and humorous documentary following a couple as they attempt to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet on a food stamp budget. Through their adventures they consult with members of U.S. Congress, food justice organizations, nutrition experts, and people living on food stamps to take a deep look at America’s broken food system.
Light refreshments from http://www.GreenGablesCafe.com will be offered before the film starts. After showing the movie we’ll have UM faculty, students, and local community organization leaders come together to speak on topics such as healthy meal options for lower income families, food policy, nutrition, & more.
