The Normal Retirement Date is at age 65.  This date is defined as the June 1st after you reach age 65, or the later of attaining age 65 or the fifth anniversary from when you began participating in the plan.

You may retire before age 65 if you meet the following early retirement guidelines:

- You are age 55 or older and have 10 years of service.
- Your age and years of service total 70 or greater (Rule of 70).

Early Retirement in the ERP
If you are enrolled in the ERP, there is no penalty if you retire at age 62 with ten years of service or more.  If you leave prior to age 62 with ten years of service, you will have a 20% penalty applied to your pension.  If you elect to receive early retirement benefits anytime after age 55 (with at least ten years of service), the accrued benefit will be reduced as follows:
