STATEMENT FROM UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI
PRESIDENT DONNA E. SHALALA ON MILITARY LEAVE
FOR OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM
“The University of Miami is proud if its men and women who are serving our country in this time of crisis.
The University will continue to extend limited compensation and benefits to employees who are called to active duty as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Employees who are called to active duty are urged to contact Benefits Administration at 305-284-3004 for a complete explanation of their Benefits. All employees are entitled to their jobs and benefits once they return.
Students who are called to military duty will have no financial penalties imposed upon them. Students will be assisted with appropriate withdrawal from the University and will be extended every opportunity to reenroll without penalty. Those who have questions should contact Scott Ingold, Registrar’s Office, 305-284-2294.
The University of Miami staff will remain flexible and available to assist with military personnel to accommodate their needs during this time.”
