The Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance degree is designed to prepare the singer who is experienced in operatic, concert, and recital performance for a successful career as a teacher of voice. The degree is tailored to each student to build on his or her strengths while addressing areas that need improvement.
Students will gain performance experience by participating in Frost Opera Theater productions and in giving solo recitals, while teaching both private studio lessons and Department of Vocal Performance courses. The Frost School of Music offers unique opportunities for students to work with faculty from the classical, jazz, and contemporary/pop areas, in addition to gaining experience in the pedagogy of classical vocal performance. Frost School of Music Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance graduates are currently teaching as full-time tenure-track university faculty members, and they maintain active national performing careers.
