The ensemble program in the Studio Music and Jazz Department features three big bands. These bands are comprised of the typical instrumentation: 4-5 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxes and rhythm section. All three bands record and perform on a regular basis.

CJB: CONCERT JAZZ BAND

SJB: STUDIO JAZZ BAND
The SJB is the second tier big band at the Frost School. Its young and talented musicians and diverse repertoire make it one of the finest college big bands performing today.

XJB
The XJB is an ensemble that allows the future stars of the Studio Music and Jazz Department to grow and develop. Its director, Chuck Bergeron, holds its students to high standards, knowing that they will move into the top bands when they are ready.
