Residencies

The Frost School of Music is host to several outstanding residencies each year that enhance the learning experience for all students.

The Cleveland Orchestra Residency
The Cleveland Orchestra is in residence in Miami two to four weeks per season and presents a concert series at the Arsht Center in downtown Miami each year.  Musicians and conductors from the orchestra share their expertise with Frost School of Music students through master classes, private coaching sessions, workshops, and mock auditions.  Frost students are often invited to attend full orchestra rehearsals.

Artist-in-Residence Mark O’Connor
Multiple Grammy Award winning violinist and composer Mark O’Connor is the Frost School’s Artist-in-Residence. He works enthusiastically with the string faculty and students as they explore and premiere new repertoire. He has presented workshops on the history of American string playing, improvisation, fiddling, composing and the business of music, and has performed with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, Frost Salsa Orchestra, and presented concerts with his own Hot Jazz Group.
