  1. Jacques Gadway

    Jacques Gadway, violin, is majoring in Instrumental Performance at the University of Miami Frost School of Music where he is a Stamps Music Scholar and a member of the Stamps String Quintet, Class of 2018, coached by Professor Ross Harbaugh. He studies privately with Frost faculty violin artist Scott Flavin. Gadway graduated from Coral Reef Senior High in Miami, Florida where he was the concertmaster of both the Chamber and Symphony Orchestras. He was also concertmaster of the String Orchestra of the Greater Miami Youth Symphony, a member of the Young Musicians’ Orchestra of Coral Gables Congregational Church, and concertmaster of Miami Strings Project. He performed in numerous All-State Orchestras beginning in the seventh grade and in 11th grade, was selected as concertmaster of the Florida All-State 11th and 12th Grade Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he was awarded full scholarships to summer programs such as the Young Musicians Camp at the University of Miami; the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina; and the four-week National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute (NSO-SMI) at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Jacques Gadway started violin at age four while living in Southern Illinois and later relocated to Homestead, Florida. In his free time, Jacques likes to improvise on both violin and piano, play basketball and tennis with his friends and brothers, and compose music.

  2. Sarah Huesman

    Sarah Huesman, cello, is majoring in Instrumental Performance at the University of Miami Frost School of Music where she is a Stamps Music Scholar and a member of the Stamps String Quintet, Class of 2018, coached by Professor Ross Harbaugh; she also studies privately with Harbaugh. Sarah Huesman is originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and entered the University of North Carolina School of the Arts as a high school freshman. While at UNC School of the Arts, Huesman was a member of the Jia String Quartet, semi-finalist at the 2013 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in South Bend, Indiana, and studied with faculty artist Brooks Whitehouse. She began studying cello at the age of 6 with Worth Williams, and also studied with cellist Anne Sellitti. She earned accolades in a number of music competitions while in high school including 1st Place in the 2012 Psi Phi Regional Talent Search; 1st Place in the 2013 Music Academy of North Carolina String Competition; 1st Place in the Junior Division of the 2014 NC Chapter of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA); and 3rd Place in the 2014 Peter Perret Youth Talent Search. Huesman’s summer studies and festival experiences have included participation in the Brevard Music Festival, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, and the Meadowmount School of Music. She also attended the International Music Festival of the Adriatic (IMFA) in Duino, Italy.

  3. Thomas Johnson

    Thomas Johnson, violin, is majoring in Instrumental Performance at the Frost School of Music where he is a Stamps Music Scholar and a member of the Stamps String Quintet, Class of 2018, coached by Professor Ross Harbaugh. Johnson studies privately with Frost faculty violinist Scott Flavin. Hailing from Florissant, Missouri in the greater St. Louis area, Thomas Johnson began his musical studies on the guitar at age six. He then began studying violin at age 8 with Dawn Pennell. At age 12 he won a full scholarship for the Illinois Summer Youth Music camp from the Alton Youth Symphony. He also performed a solo work with the youth orchestra in front of a live audience. From age 14, he worked with teacher Yuly Ilyashov and began participating in nearby Webster University's Preparatory Program, designed to augment the individual music study of exceptionally talented string and other instrumental students. He continued his work with the Webster Prep Program until his High School graduation. Johnson also performed in the St. Louis Youth Orchestra for three years. Thomas Johnson’s career goals are to attend graduate school, and ultimately play violin in a professional string quartet.

  4. Stephen Huber Weber

    Stephen Huber Weber, viola, is majoring in Instrumental Performance at the University of Miami Frost School of Music where he is a Stamps Music Scholar and a member of the Stamps String Quintet, Class of 2018, coached by faculty mentor Professor Ross Harbaugh. He studies viola privately with Professor Pamela McConnell. Stephen Huber Weber hails from Geneva, Florida and was very active performing in the state throughout his youth. He studied both viola and violin with Alvaro Gomez for six years. He participated in youth orchestras for 8 years; held the position of principal violist of the Florida Young Artists Orchestra for 2 years; and was a member of the Winter Park Chamber Music Academy for five years, including three years as the principal violist. He was also principal violist of the 2014 All State Junior Senior Orchestra. Weber has won a number of music competitions including the 2013 Orfeo International Music Festival Concerto Competition, the Frost School of Music Viola Day 2014 Competition, the Lake District Federation Concerto Competition, and the Florida Young Artists Orchestra Concerto Competition. He recently performed as a soloist with the Maitland Symphony Orchestra. Outside of music, Stephen enjoys competitive fencing and attended the 2012 and 2013 Junior Olympics.
