Clinical training for music therapy students at the Frost School of Music meets and exceeds the highest national standards. Students complete six practica, or clinical training experiences, each one semester in length, beginning in the first semester of the sophomore year. The final student practicum experience is a culmination of the student’s skills with a senior project presentation.
| The six practica provide the student with: |
- Incremental learning of clinical skills over each semester
- Clinical experience across the lifespan
- Clinical experiences within different diagnoses and conditions
- Weekly on-site supervision from board certified music therapists in the Miami area
- Weekly academic supervision from University music therapy faculty and doctoral students
- Varied clinical sites, including the many hospitals of the Jackson Health System, a world-renowned center for medical research, treatment and clinical care
