Performing ensembles are an integral part of the curricular activity in the Frost School. Students can choose from over 50 ensembles throughout the school, offering you a host of performance opportunities.
MIP offers ensembles of all types; from Symphony Orchestra to Baroque Ensemble to quartets and trios. Virtually any type of ensemble you are looking for can be found in the Frost School.
If you are like most serious musicians, making music is as important to you as studying music. You would be hard pressed to find many schools of music that offer the sheer variety, depth, and breadth of ensembles as the University of Miami Frost School of Music.
Several of the School’s ensembles are invited regularly to perform each year at national and international conferences. Some of these performances have included:
–The Frost School Symphony Orchestra and the Frost School Chorale at the Music Educators National Conference National Convention;
–The Frost School Wind Ensemble at the College Band Directors National Association Convention;
–The award-winning Frost School Concert Jazz Band, Jazz Vocal Ensemble I, and the ECM Ensemble at the International Association of Jazz Educators Convention;
–The Frost School Chorale at the American Choral Directors National Convention.
The Frost Symphony and Frost Wind Ensemble record regularly for major recording labels and have both released CDs which include world premieres.
