You’ve been a musician for a long time now. You enjoy performing with peers who are as talented as you, and are eager to learn about musical styles and genres that push your comfort zone. The Henry Mancini Institute provides both opportunities, while you earn a master’s or doctoral degree from the Frost School of Music.
For classical musicians, it often means exploring hundreds of rhythms, grooves and styles of Latin, rock, jazz and world music and blending those with styles that are familiar to you, such as An Evening with Dave Grusin that features the Mancini Institute Orchestra on CD, Blu-Ray Disc and Roba i-pad app. For jazz musicians, the experience puts you in touch with classical and alternative rock musicians, songwriters, film music, and much more. All HMI students may audition and perform in the Frost Symphony Orchestra, Frost Chamber Orchestra, Frost Wind Ensemble, Frost Concert Jazz Band, and other top ensembles at Frost.
For all who participate, the “mash-up” is inspiring. Whatever your current focus, the Henry Mancini Institute will introduce you to new musical horizons that you cannot even imagine today.
Whether performing at top performing arts centers with a line up of amazing instrumental or vocal artists, or performing and recording great film music by today’s leading film composers, you’ll enjoy a range of experiences that will serve you well as you head into your professional career.
Welcome to the Henry Mancini Institute at the Frost School of Music—a new world of music is yours to create.
