In addition to full orchestra outreach at Miami-Dade schools and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, HMI Outbound presents smaller chamber music and mixed genre ensembles at a variety of music venues throughout the region.
In Spring 2011, Frost School of Music students and their groups were featured at Fairchild Tropical Bontanic Garden for weekly “Sunday Sounds” concerts, and also at The Stage for a series of four “Family Style Sundays” outdoor programs, organized by Chamber Music Coordinator Corey Klein and HMI Outreach Coordinator, Stephen Guerra, Jr., respectively. The short concert series served as a trial run for a much larger scale community outreach effort next season.
HMI Outbound’s goal is to provide new music and cultural engagement in under-served venues throughout the community such as hospitals, schools and community centers. The program is funded in part through a generous grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, matched by a contribution by Adrienne Arsht.
