Terence Blanchard
Artistic Director, Henry Mancini Institute
Terence Blanchard is a legendary jazz trumpeter who recently joined the Henry Mancini Institute at the University of Miami Frost School of Music as artistic director. Blanchard has more than 29 albums to his credit, earning a “Best Jazz Instrumental Solo” Grammy for his performance on Jeff “Tain” Watts’s project, Watts, a Grammy for his solo for “Be-Bop” on Live At The 2007 Monterey Jazz Festival, and a Grammy for his CD, A Tale of God's Will (A Requiem for Katrina). Blanchard is also a prolific film composer with more than 50 film and television credits, including Spike Lee's 25th Hour for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination. He completed the score…

Frost School of Music names 2013 Outstanding Seniors for their academic and artistic excellence.

The University of Miami Frost School of Music announced the Ft. Lauderdale based Georgina Dieter Dennis Foundation has awarded the school $50,000 for vocal scholarships in the academic year 2013-14.

Frost School of Music students were once again well represented in DownBeat magazine’s 36th Annual Student Music Awards, with 11 awards bestowed on ensembles, soloists, arrangers, composers and engineers.
The Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra at the Frost School of Music is a highly selective graduate ensemble that is inspiring a whole new spectrum of artistic creation and exploration. The artistic director is Terence Blanchard.
