The Patricia Louise Frost Music Studios complex, named in honor of our generous benefactor Patricia Frost, is now under construction!
When completed, this brand new facility will contain 74 Music Studios that will be used for private lessons, chamber music rehearsals and interactive Experiential Music Curriculum classes. Naming opportunities for individual Music Studios begin at $50,000 and may be paid over several years. Naming a music studio is a wonderful way to honor family members, iconic faculty, music lovers, alumni or students—and will help us finish the studios with top quality floor treatments, new pianos, furnishings, and soundproof doors.
Wonderful naming opportunities are available for the following spaces in the Patricia Louise Music Studios and Bertha Foster Practice Building:
1 Building Naming (funded)
1 Grand Entrance / Main Gate (funded)
1 Reception and Information Center (funded)
2 New Entrance Towers
1 Multisided Interactive Kiosk Column
1 Furnished Second Floor Breezeway
Music Studios and Classrooms:
42 Large Music Studios (20’ x 14’)
32 Medium Music Studios (14’ x 14’)
1 Extra Large Classroom (42’ x 29’) for Vocal Jazz
1 Extra Large Classroom (42’ x 29’) for Percussion
6 Large Music Studios (Bertha Foster Building)
Renovated Individual Practice Rooms (Bertha Foster Building)
Each Music Studio will be a “floating box” within a box, meaning no two studios will have shared walls, floors or ceilings, providing optimal acoustics for teaching, learning and performing music.
The construction will be LEED rated, with a light harvesting design, solar panels, and energy efficient windows. Superior acoustics and state-of-the-art recording capabilities will be featured throughout.
Sleekly designed by leading architect Yann Weymouth, the new complex will feature a North Wing and a South Wing flanking the existing Bertha Foster Practice Building.
The North Wing will house the majority of the Music Studios, plus one Extra Large Classroom designated for Vocal Jazz. It will also feature a new grand entrance to the Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music, New Entrance Towers and a New Reception and Information Center.
The South Wing will house additional Music Studios, one Extra Large Music Studio especially designed for Percussion, and a Furnished Second Floor Breezeway.
All of the practice rooms will be renovated in the Bertha Foster Practice Building and six large music studios will also be housed there.
