July 13, 2015 — Coral Gables, Fla. and Salzburg, Austria — The University of Miami Frost School of Music at Salzburg, an established summer training program that attracts students from around the world, celebrates its 30th anniversary this July 13 through August 13 with a new director, Robynne Redmon, at the helm. Young singers and pianists study with world-renowned artists in the birthplace of Mozart for this comprehensive program focusing on German Lied and operatic repertoire.
Participants enjoy access to concerts and special events in Salzburg’s famous festival theaters, cathedrals, palaces, and the Mozarteum, as well as visits to historical sites in both Salzburg and Vienna.
Robynne Redmon, mezzo-soprano, assistant professor of vocal performance took the lead as director in 2014. She has performed leading roles with many major opera houses of the world including The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Berlin State Opera and Opera de Marseilles, among many others.
Dr. Esther Jane Hardenbergh, professor of voice and chair of the Department of Vocal Performance, served as the Salzburg program director for the previous 14 years. The program was founded by Dr. Lorine Buffington.
