September 22, 2012 — Coral Gables — The Florida International Piano Competition has appointed University of Miami Frost School of Music professor Santiago Rodriguez, as new artistic director.
The FIPC brings pianists from around the globe to Central Florida for a biennial week-long competition featuring an international panel of judges. Winners receive cash prizes and performance engagements in coveted venues, including Carnegie Hall. This year’s competition begins on September 15.
Rodriguez is an acclaimed pianist, who has performed internationally with many leading orchestras. He has been called a "phenomenal pianist" by the New York Times and enjoys a distinguished reputation as a teacher and master-clinician.
