June 19, 2014 — Coral Gables, FL — Frost Online, the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music’s newly integrated online Master’s program initiative, launched its Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in Music Entrepreneurship this month. Full degree programs will begin this fall.
The MOOC in Music Entrepreneurship will be offered as a first course, allowing students to try online learning risk-free as the first step toward obtaining a degree. Those who pass and are qualified to enroll in a Frost degree program are eligible to earn one credit hour in Music Entrepreneurship for free. Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) Students will have the option of entering these programs through Frost’s Presenting and Live Entertainment Management program, also known as AP Live's, MOOC2Degree initiative.
The University of Miami (UM) announced in February that two master’s programs offered by its world-renowned Frost School of Music (Frost) will be available online beginning fall 2014 and another will follow early next year. Frost’s online education courses will be offered through a new site called frostonline.miami.edu, and applications for the programs are currently being accepted.

Berg. “Our decision to make our degree programs available online reflects that commitment and our deep desire to ensure that talented students around the world who are interested in contributing to the elevation of the musical arts have the ability to do so.”
Frost will begin offering its Master of Music degree in Music Business and Entertainment Industries and its Master of Arts degree in Arts Presenting and Live Entertainment Management online beginning in June 2014.
Frost is currently accepting students for its Music Business and Entertainment Industries program. Students in this program study music copyright, music publishing, record companies, entertainment contracts, music licensing, touring, and music marketing. Graduates of the program are currently working in every area of the industry, including at record companies and in music publishing, music licensing, artist management, live music production, concert management, and intellectual property/entertainment law.
Frost’s Presenting and Live Entertainment Management program (AP Live) will be available online this fall as well. With an emphasis on the performing arts and commercial music industries, AP Live offers a curriculum that is tailored to provide a thorough understanding of for-profit marketing, promotion, and management, as well as the legal aspects, risks, and financing of a diversity of live entertainment endeavors.
Frost’s Master of Music Degree in Music Therapy, which is designed to prepare students for either advanced-level clinical practice or additional opportunities in research or college teaching, will be available online in early 2015.
Frost is one of the largest, most relevant, and best music schools located in a private university in the United States and one of the most comprehensive in all of higher education. Its faculty has pioneered new curricula including the groundbreaking Frost Experiential Music Curriculum, and was the first in the nation to offer professionally accredited bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Music Business and Music Engineering Technology. Frost has chosen Academic Partnerships (AP), one of the world’s largest representatives of online learning, to help convert its three master’s programs into an online format, recruit students, and support student retention efforts.
AP will work closely with Frost faculty to ensure that the online programs maintain the highest educational standards. The company will also use its integrated marketing and branding strategies to extend Frost’s reach, increasing the enrollment of highly-qualified students.
