Weeks Center for Recording and Performance, Clarke Recital Hall
FROST OPERA THEATER
ALAN JOHNSON, artistic director
The Clarke Recital Hall stage will be charged with emotional realism when students from the Frost Opera Theater apply their craft in operatic scenes exemplifying the Italian style known as verismo. Music by Puccini, Leoncavallo, and Mascagni will be the focus. Arising in the late 19th century, the verismo style sought to bring naturalism to operatic stories and compositions distinguished by realistic-and often sordid or violent-depictions of everyday life and unbridled passions. Performances performed with piano; stage direction by Robynne Redmon, Chris O’Connor, and Alan Johnson. Two nights, November 13 and 15!
