Gusman Concert Hall
Frost Cantilena and Maelstrom with the Chameleon Chamber Orchestra
John Guarente, Christopher Shortt, Kathryn Kelly Longo, Bethany Wallace, conductors
Join the Frost School’s Cantilena (women’s choir), Maelstrom (men’s choir), and the Chameleon Chamber Orchestra for an appealing “Schubertiade!” - an evening celebrating the music of Franz Schubert and his contemporaries. During Schubert’s lifetime, Schubertiades were informal gatherings of poets and musicians, an evening of artistic exchange. Eventually, they became more formal affairs.
On this evening, the Cantilena, and Maelstrom choirs and the Chameleon Chamber Orchestra will present individual performances before combining with Schubert’s Mass in G to close the program. Individual selections include Brahms’ “Nun stehen die Rosen in Blüte” from Opus 44, a selection from Suite for Strings by John Rutter, and “Brothers, Sing On!” by Edvard Grieg.
