UM Maurice Gusman Concert Hall
Works by Milhaud, Dvořák, Schuller
Take the beat, beat, beat of the tom-tom and the gorgeous harmonies of 1920s Paris—and voilà —experience Darius Milhaud’s jazz-tinged La Création du monde, conducted by Gunther Schuller and featuring the all-star Frost Chamber Players. Then the Bergonzi String Quartet brings a modern perspective to Antonín Dvořák’s String Quintet No. 2 with bassist Brian Powell, topped off with Schuller’s acclaimed new Quintet for Horn and Strings, featuring hornist Richard Todd.
