Back by popular demand to host and star in this special concert is multi-platinum-selling, five-time Grammy-nominated entertainer Michael Feinstein. This tribute to the genius of George Gershwin showcases jazzy arrangements of Gershwin’s classical concert masterpieces, including perennial favorites Rhapsody in Blue, Fascinating Rhythm, and Strike Up the Band, performed by the extraordinary Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, led by its Artistic Director—the celebrated, multi-Grammy-winning jazz trumpeter and film composer Terence Blanchard. Joining the orchestra is international opera superstar Denyce Graves singing selections from Porgy and Bess; multi-Grammy- and Academy Award-winning composer/arranger and pianist Dave Grusin; vocalists Monica Mancini and Dee Dee Bridgewater; genre-crossing violin virtuoso Mark O’Connor; and noted jazz pianist and Dean of the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music Shelly Berg.
Gershwin represents American music at its best—and Festival Miami, JazzRoots, and the Adrienne Arsht Center have assembled the best to perform it for you!
