Il Tabarro by Giacomo Puccini, Part 1 of Il Trittico (“the Triptych”)
ALAN JOHNSON, artistic director

Throughout the 2014-15 season, Frost Opera Theater presents Puccini’s Il Trittico, or “the Triptych,” a collection of three one-act operas: Il tabarro, Suor Angelica, and Gianni Schicchi. The trilogy opens with a concert presentation of Il tabarro (“The Cloak”).  Vocal performance faculty are featured in the lead roles in this single concert performance with bass-baritone Kevin Short as the barge owner Michele, soprano Esther Jane Hardenbergh as his wife Giorgetta, tenor Tony Boutté as the stevedore Luigi and secret lover of Giorgetta, and mezzo-soprano Robynne Redmon as La Frugola (the Rummager).  Frost Opera Theater students complete the cast in this story of misery and murder along the River Seine in Paris. Frost Opera Theater program director Alan Johnson leads the ensemble from the piano.

Free admission.
