Dr. Robert Kelley Memorial Musicology Lecture Series
DAVID AKE, guest lecturer

Award-winning scholar, jazz pianist, professor and chair of the music department at Case Western Reserve University, David Ake, Ph.D. inaugurates the Frost School of Music’s new Dr. Robert Kelley Memorial Musicology Lecture Series. Ake’s talk explores the traditional differences between musicology and jazz education in colleges and universities, as well as how and why we might bring these two disciplines closer together to the benefit of all who teach, study, create, and love the music. The new lecture series honors the late Dr. Robert Kelley, a valued community member who made a significant donation to sponsor a distinguished musicology lecture series at Frost. Kelley was an admirer of Professor Emeritus Frank Cooper and a supporter of the Musicology department.
