Thomas Keck, conductor
Michael Hancock, conductor*

The Frost Symphonic Winds under the baton of Thomas Keck concludes its season with a substantial concert that showcases the ensemble’s expressiveness and musical fluency. It begins with Fugue a la Gigue an arrangement on Bach’s Fugue in G Major by Gustav Holst. DMA candidate Michael Hancock conducts Thomas Knox’s Sea Songs, written for the 350th anniversary of the city of Boston; then the ensemble performs Joseph Schwantner’s From a Dark Millennium, a veritable concerto for piano and percussion. Next up, Edvard Grieg’s Funeral Music for Rikard Noraak composed in honor of a fellow Norwegian composer and the concert closes with Donald Grantham’s Southern Harmony set in a rhapsodic style to showcase the potential of the modern wind ensemble. * Degree Recital
