The unique instrumentation of a saxophone quartet (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone) is showcased in this concert featuring students from the saxophone studio of renowned master teacher Dale Underwood. Programming begins with Caryl Florio’s Quartette (Allegro de Concert), and an array of contemporary works including David Maslanka’s five-movement Mountain Roads, Philip Glass’ Saxophone Quartet, and Bernard Rands’s Prism (Memo 6b), concluding with Phragmites in the Storm, written by Frost composition student, Ben Morris.
