Franz Schubert’s song cycle Winterreise (“Winter Journey”) is a setting of 24 poems by Wilhelm Müller that is beloved the world over. This Gusman Hall concert features internationally renowned tenor Dennis Petersen as guest artist, accompanied by faculty artist Alan Johnson on piano. Petersen is a regular guest artist with major opera houses and regional theaters, including Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Seattle Opera, Opera Pacific, Florida Grand Opera, Minnesota Opera, Spoleto Festivals and Saito Kinen Festivals. Johnson is program director of the Frost Opera Theater and premiered many new operas by major composers including Philip Glass.
