Enjoy a free meet-the-composer session with 2012 Stamps Distinguished Visitor Ellen Taaffe Zwilich. Gain behind-the-scenes insight into the world of a consummate professional composer whose distinct music continues to impact audiences in profound ways.

Free admission, ticket required.

Following her talk, UM students will be performing three pieces:
-“Clarino” - Quartet for Four Clarinets (1977)
-“Episodes” - for Soprano Sax and Piano (2007)
-Quintet for Saxophone and String Quartet (2007)

 

Ellen Zwilich is a Pulitzer Prize-winning and multi-Grammy- nominated composer.  Her music is widely performed and recorded by leading orchestras and chamber ensembles. She received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from Florida State University and a doctorate from the Juilliard School of Music. Her distinct music is known for its technical substance and appeal to mixed audiences.
