The Frost Band of the Hour is the official marching band of the University of Miami. Under the direction of Jay Rees, it performs annually for over one million Hurricane fans. In addition to appearances at home football games in Sun Life Stadium, the Frost Band of the Hour has performed at the Rose, Fiesta, Sugar, Orange, Cotton, Peach, Liberty, Bluebonnet, Gator, Gotham, Carquest, Micron PC, MPC Computers, Emerald, and Champs Sports Bowls.
The band is comprised of energetic and passionate brass, woodwind, and percussion, as well as the Hurricanette colorguard and dancers. They play a variety of exciting styles, including many Latin American influenced arrangements that bring out the band’s alter ego…La Banda de la Hora!
They perform at home football games, travel to one away game each season, support the football team at invited bowl games, as well as perform at on-campus events and regional exhibitions.
The Frost Band of the Hour is the largest and most spirited student organization on the UM campus and draws its membership from the entire student body. Band members represent nearly every academic major and come from every state in the country.
