Vicente Chavarria, B.A. ‘09, M.M. ‘11, serves as Director of the Gloria Dei Choir in La Habra, California. He recently presented papers on Mexican Baroque music at international conferences in Santa Barbara and Mexico City. Prior to graduation from UM Frost, he served as Artistic Director of the Miami-based Fra Angelico Chamber Choir and the Sibelius Camerata, performing the Mozart Requiem, the Ramírez Misa Criolla, and the Miami premiere of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo. He is currently pursuing a DMA degree at USC Thornton in Los Angeles, where he is the founder of the USC Latin American Baroque Choir, which he also conducts. Chavarria majored in musicology at the Frost School of Music.
