The Young Musicians’ Camp was established in the summer of 2000 at the Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music. The camp is open to instrumentalists and vocalists ages 9-18. The mission of the Young Musicians’ Camp is to provide a musical experience of the highest quality to elementary through senior high school aged children. Recognizing the unlimited potential of all children when nurtured in a rich environment, the camp strives to bring together children from a wide variety of ethnic, cultural, and financial backgrounds to share in the joy of making music.
The Camp offers 5 Programs: Elementary, Intermediate, Pre-College, Honors, and Community Service. Campers can select a track to specialize in: Classical Instrumental, Jazz, Rock, Piano, or Vocal. The Honors Program is offered in the areas of Classic Jazz, Composition, Voice, and Classical Chamber Music. A supervised dorm program is available for campers age 13 and up. There is bus transportation for campers who live in Dade and Broward county. The Camp also provides supervised extended care. The Camp faculty is made up of UM faculty, alumni, and professional musicians – all are dedicated to sharing their talent with today’s young musicians! Each camp session is separate and there are new classes and music for each. All campers perform in one of the final concerts, held at the end of each session. Tuition includes a daily hot lunch, camp t- shirt, all classes and materials, concerts, and afternoon snacks! Please visit our website for complete information and online registration.
