Lisanne Lyons earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Miami Frost School of Music where she teaches voice and is a lecturer in jazz vocal performance and the Creative American Music program. She was previously an associate professor of music at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She was founder of Virginia Tech's vocal jazz program and directed their award-winning vocal jazz group, the New Virginians.
