Voice Applicants

The University of Miami Frost School of Music has world-class vocal performance faculty.  We look forward to meeting you at your audition.

Vocal Performance:

Vocal Performance majors:
Perform two selections (one in English, on in another language) from the art song, opera, operetta, or oratorio repertoire. The selections should demonstrate vocal range and quality, intonation, phrasing ability, and interpretive skills.

All other majors (non-performance):
Perform two selections from the art song, opera, operetta, oratorio or Musical Theatre repertoire.  The selections should demonstrate vocal range and quality, intonation, phrasing ability, and interpretive skills.

All selections must be memorized.

All auditions must be accompanied.

On-Campus Auditions:
An accompanist will be provided at on-campus auditions.
A $10 fee will be collected at check-in the morning of your audition.
Applicants must provide copied music for the accompanist in a 3-ring binder.

Regional Auditions:
Accompanists are NOT provided.
Please either bring an accompanist or bring your accompaniment pre-recorded and a play back unit.

A brief sight-reading, tonal retention and theory examination will be given at the time of all auditions.

Recorded Auditions:
Recorded auditions are accepted for students living north of Orlando, Florida and must be submitted online via DecisionDesk.

Note: The Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre program offered at the Frost School of Music has been suspended. Please contact the University of Miami Department of Theatre Arts (305-284-4474) for information on the Bachelor of Fine Arts.
