B.M. Piano Performance Major:
Baroque - A Prelude and Fugue or complete larger work (Partita, English Suite, French Suite, Toccata) by J.S. Bach.
Classical - A complete sonata (all movements) by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert (no exceptions).
Romantic - A major solo work (10-15 mins) from the 19th-century (no exceptions).
Etude - A virtuosic etude by one of the following composers: Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Debussy, Bartok, Stravinsky or Ligeti (no exceptions).
B.M. Piano Principal (Non-performance Majors):
Baroque - Any work by J.S. Bach.
Classical - A sonata (or one movement) by Mozart, Clementi, Scarlatti, or the equivalent.
Romantic - composition of your choice.
All applicants are expected to play from memory. No exceptions will be made to the requirements listed above. All recorded auditions should include both audio and video and will be submitted online via DecisionDesk. Each piece should be announced before it is played.
