Graduate Composition Applicants
Music Composition, Media Writing & Production, & Digital Arts and Sound Design:

Graduate students applying to Music Composition, Media Writing & Production, or Digital Arts and Sound Design must submit a portfolio of their compositions. The portfolio should be submitted via DecisionDesk by December 1.

Applicants to the Master of Music or Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition:

Upload representative samples of several music scores that you have composed. Scores should be your original works (not arrangements). You are also encouraged to upload audio files of your compositions if available. It is preferable that these audio files are recordings of performances, but you may also submit MIDI renditions if necessary. If you want to be considered for a teaching assistantship you must interview on campus with the .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) faculty and take a proficiency exam. In special cases, Skype interviews are possible.

Applicants to the Master of Music in Media Writing & Production:

Upload representative samples of several music scores that you have composed. Scores should be of your original works. Arrangements of existing compositions and/or songs (vocal or instrumental) will be considered only if notated scores and audio files of arrangements are included.

Applicants to the Master of Music in Digital Arts and Sound Design:

Upload representative samples of your digital music that you have composed. You may also upload scores if you have them. If you want to be considered for a teaching assistantship you must interview on campus with the .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) faculty and take a proficiency exam. In special cases, Skype interviews are possible.

Studio Jazz Writing & Jazz Composition:

Graduate students applying to Studio Jazz Writing or Jazz Composition must submit a portfolio of their compositions. The portfolio should be submitted via DecisionDesk by December 1.

Applicants to the Master of Music in Studio Jazz Writing:

The portfolio should include a broad sampling of representative works of your creative efforts. The portfolio should include musical scores and an audio recording of the works.

Applicants to the Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Composition:

The portfolio should include a broad sampling of representative works of your creative efforts. The portfolio should include musical scores and an audio recording of the works.
