In Its Third Week, the 2012 Festival Miami Features a Wide Array of Performers

October 15, 2012 — Coral Gables, FL — The University of Miami Frost School of Music is pleased to present the third week of Festival Miami 2012—Florida’s premier live music festival. Now in its 29th season, Festival Miami features a diverse blend of exciting performers showcasing their talents alongside brilliant students and faculty artists. In addition, visiting artists conduct free lectures and master classes to share their insight with audiences. Festival Miami begins October 2 and concludes November 4.

The third week of this dynamic festival begins on October 16 with three of Brazil's most in-demand musicians, Trio da Paz. These extraordinary musicians are known for their unique fusion of jazz-oriented Brazilian music, harmonically adventurous interactions, daring improvisations and spectacular rhythms. On October 18, Broadway touring pros Valerie Perri (Evita) and Michael Maguire (Les Misérables) will present a special evening of singing and entertaining featuring marvelous musical theater favorites. The third week of Festival Miami closes on October 21 with a performance that showcases the Greater Miami Youth Symphony and the South Florida Youth Symphony. These talented young groups will perform new contemporary classical works by established composers, including a new work for double orchestra by faculty composer Dennis Kam.
