North America’s premier wind quintet, Imani Winds, is carving out a distinct presence in the classical music world with its dynamic playing, culturally poignant programming, and genre-blurring collaborations. With a deep commitment to commissioning new work, the group is enriching the traditional wind quintet repertoire while meaningfully bridging European, American, African, and Latin American traditions. Its creative approach to “well-balanced” programming centers on several major “entrée” pieces, enhanced by “appetizer,” “first-course,” and “aperitif” selections. Imani Winds will also introduce the freshman Stamps Woodwind Quintet (Rebecca Taylor, Spencer Stromquist, David Taylor, Anthony Taboada, Larysa Pavelek) for its debut performance.
