GERSHWIN, GERSHWIN, GERSHWIN! FEATURING FROST WIND ENSEMBLE
Gary Green Conducts Fascinating Rhythm, Porgy and Bess, and More
A dazzling all-Gershwin extravaganza hits the Gusman Concert Hall stage as Gary Green conducts the Frost Wind Ensemble in delightful transcriptions of Gershwin favorites. Includes Donald Hunsberger’s adaptation of Gershwin’s Cuban Overture as well as his suite based on Porgy and Bess featuring soprano Alicia Hall Moran (national Broadway touring star in the new smash hit The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess) and bass-baritone Kevin Short (multiple roles for Metropolitan Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Los Angeles Opera and more). The concert also features a new arrangement of Gershwin’s Fascinating Rhythm featuring Mark O’Connor (violin), Shelly Berg (piano), Chuck Bergeron (bass), Steve Houghton (drums), and a new wind band transcription of the classic “I Got Rhythm” Variations.
We invite all Frost School of Music and Band of the Hour Alumni to attend as part of the University of Miami Alumni Weekend and Homecoming!
