Tiempo Libre

Grammy-nominated Tiempo Libre’s sophisticated Afro-Caribbean music mixes jazz harmonies, contemporary sonorities, and Latin rhythms. They have shared the stage with Celia Cruz and Aretha Franklin, been featured on The Tonight Show, Live from Lincoln Center, and Dancing with the Stars, and appeared in Cuba Libre, a musical based on their careers and music.

Tiempo Libre’s U.S. appearances include Manhattan’s Latin club Subrosa, the Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, Jazz at Lincoln Center, New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Boston’s Sculler’s Jazz Club, New Haven Jazz Festival, Tanglewood, Interlochen, Santa Fe Chamber Festivals, and many more.

Their prestigious performances worldwide include London’s Jazz Café, Toronto’s Royal Conservatory, Heineken Jazz Festival in Thailand, Jakarta’s Java Jazz Festival, Singapore Sun Fest, Tel Aviv Opera House, Adelaide Festival Centre, Hong Kong’s Kwai Tsing Theatre, and Guatemala’s Festival Internacional De Styler.

Tiempo Libre’s debut album Arroz con Mango (Shanachie) received critical acclaim from Latin Beat, Hispanic Magazine and NPR’s Latino USA. Their first Sony Masterworks recording, Bach in Havana (2009) was Grammy-nominated for Best Tropical Latin Album. Their 2015 album Panamericano (Universal Music Latin Entertainment), features guest artists Jean Rodriguez, Yunel Cruz, Descemer Bueno, Frankie J, and Luis Fernando Borjas.
