Gary Green, Professor of Music and Director of Bands at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, teaches conducting and serves as the conductor of the Frost Wind Ensemble. He has conducted the Frost Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, and has been invited on numerous occasions to conduct at the prestigious College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA). He served for many years as the chair of the Frost School’s Department of Instrumental Performance.
Green holds a B.M. from Boise State University and a M.M. from the University of Idaho. He began his career as director of bands at University High School in Spokane, Washington, one of the most widely respected band programs in the nation. He was then recruited to the University of Connecticut as conductor of the Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble, and Marching Band, before moving to Miami for his current faculty appointment at Frost.
Throughout his career, Green has received numerous honors and awards. His recent conducting activities include events in Florida, Texas, Connecticut, Kansas, Maryland, Georgia, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and others. In addition, he is an in-demand conductor and clinician for all state, regional, national, and international honor bands.
